Retry policy

We retry a fax when retrying can help, up to three more times over about 20 minutes. When it cannot, such as a number that is not in service, we stop sooner. Either way, if the fax does not get through we email you and release the hold on your card, so you are not charged. Each failure, and how many tries it gets, is explained in why your fax failed.

Delivery success rate by month

Delivered means the receiving machine confirmed the fax, on the first try or after a retry. Faxes sent counts every fax we handed to the carrier, and does not count a card that was declined before we tried.

Retention

Your fax document is deleted 30 days after it is sent. Photos and uploaded PDFs go sooner, within two days of being processed into that document. Deletion is automatic and cannot be turned off, so if you need a copy of what you sent, save it before then.

What we store and for how long

• Your document. 30 days, encrypted, then deleted automatically.
• Photos and uploaded PDFs. Deleted within two days of being processed into your fax document.
• Your delivery record. The destination fax number, the page count, the time, and the result. We keep it so we can send you a receipt, tell you what happened when a fax does not go through, handle a refund, and check whether a published agency fax number still works. It is kept as your proof of transmission, for as long as the delivery record is kept. Your receipt shows the full destination number, so it works as proof of where the fax went.
• Your receipt link. Stored encrypted so we can put it in your confirmation email. The link stops showing a document after 30 days, when the document itself is deleted.
• Your email address. Stored encrypted, and used only to send your receipt or to tell you that a fax did not go through. We do not send marketing email.
• Payment. Handled by Stripe. Stripe holds your card details and we never see them. We keep the reference to the charge, never the card number.
