How it works

Ask for the number. Try “What number do I fax MassHealth to?” Claude uses the ProntoFax directory and gives you the verified number, the official page it came from, and the date it was last checked. When an agency has more than one fax number, you see which one is for what.

Add your pages. Say “fax it” and a form opens in the chat. Take photos with your phone or pick a PDF, and add a cover page if you want one.

Pay when it arrives. $2.99 flat for up to 25 pages, charged only when delivery is confirmed. If the fax does not go through, you are not charged. A confirmation with the time and page count goes to your email.

What you should know

  • Your documents never pass through Claude. The form runs on ProntoFax. Your pages go straight to our servers, and Claude only sees that a fax was started.
  • We do not keep your documents. Original photos are deleted as soon as they are processed, uploaded PDFs and processed pages within two days, and the fax document about 30 days after you send it. The delivery record stays as your proof of transmission. Details on our security page.
  • It never guesses a number. The directory covers Social Security field offices in every state, state unemployment and Medicaid agencies, MassHealth, the IRS by form, FEMA and more, each with its official source and verified date. When there is no verified number for an office, Claude uses the one printed on your letter.
  • ProntoFax is a community connector. Built by ProntoFax and listed in Anthropic’s directory. It is not made by Anthropic.

Questions

Do I need a Claude subscription?

No. You can add ProntoFax on a free Claude account.

Do I need a ProntoFax account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for. You pay by card for the fax you send.

Can Claude fax something it wrote for me?

Not yet. Today you fax photos or a PDF you add in the form.

Does it receive faxes?

No. ProntoFax is send-only.

What if the number on my letter is different from the directory?

Use the number on your letter. That is the one your case is tied to.
