You can now send a fax from a Claude chat. ProntoFax was approved for the Claude connector directory this week, and the listing is live.
Here is why we built it. The first thing most people do with a benefits form is ask someone where to send it. Increasingly that someone is an AI assistant. The problem is that an assistant answering from memory or a web search can hand you a fax number that was retired, or that belongs to a different department, and a fax to the wrong number cannot be recalled. Your unemployment paperwork, with your Social Security number on it, arrives at a stranger’s machine.
So the connector does one thing before anything else: it looks the number up in the ProntoFax directory, where every number carries the official page it came from and the date it was last verified. If an agency has three numbers, you see all three and what each is for. If the directory has no verified number for an office, Claude uses the one printed on your letter. It does not guess.
Then it sends the fax the way ProntoFax always has. A form opens in the chat. You add pages from your phone or a PDF, add a cover page if you want one, and pay $2.99 only when delivery is confirmed. No account. English and Spanish.
Two things we want to be clear about. Your documents never pass through Claude, because the form runs on our servers. And we do not keep them: photos are deleted as soon as they are processed, PDFs and pages within two days, and the fax document about 30 days after you send it.
ProntoFax is a community connector. We built it, Anthropic reviewed and listed it, and it is not made by Anthropic. It works on free Claude accounts, on web, mobile, desktop and in Claude Code.
